New Hope Christian Center

The late Willie Wood was the sole founder of New Hope. The original sanctuary was a small store stationed in the middle of the Sylvania Heights community. As the story goes, Pastor Wood heard The Lord instruct him to convert the store not a sanctuary. Pastor Wood took down the shelves and made them into pews and New Hope Baptist Church was born. Later years, the church name was changed by then Pastor James Gwyn to New Hope Christitan Center with no denominational reference. It was his vision the the ministry be more than just a church/building, but rather a “Center.” A place where the needs would be both spiritual and for the natural man to receive benefit. Today, we maintain the name and the mission with an updated concept. We believe that God has chosen New Hope to become the EpiCenter of the Transformational Conversion of the Church to Brideship

Doctrinal Statement

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. We believe that God has created all things by the Word of HIs power, in the space of six days, and all very good.

4. We believe in the diety of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right-hand of the Father, and His personal return to power and glory.

5. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration y the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: them that are saved unto the resurrection of life an them that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

8. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christians is enabled to live a godly life.

Mission Statement

To compel men, women, and children, through Bible-based teaching, to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior and to recognize that He is the Son of the Living God. To utilize Biblical principles to empower believers to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to live with a sense of urgency concerning righteousness and obedience according to the Word of God. To uniformly surrender and submit ourselves first to God in Christ Jesus and then one to another, for the purpose of establishing the Kingdom of God and to individually one day hear Him say… WELL DONE!

Vision Statement

To remain faithful to the Word of God, for the purpose of fulfilling the assignment of going to the highways and by-ways to compel men to Christ. To maintain total dependence on God in a culture in which many seek independence from God. To proudly hold the banner of faith by clinging to the principles of God without exclusion no matter whaat the cost. To believe and stand on the seen and unseen promises of God with a total expectation for His will to materialize in this life and in the one to come.

Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE that the Holy bible as originally written was verbally inspired and the product of Spirit-controlled men, and therefore, has truth without any admixture of error for its matter.

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions, shall be tried.

WE BELIEVE there is one and only one living and true God, an infinite Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in creation; that in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; that He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He i9s the Agent in the New Birth; that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer.

WE BELIEVE in the personality of Satan, that he is the unholy god of this age, and the author of all the powers of darkness, and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the lake of fire.

WE BELIEVE the Genesis account of creation and that man came by direct creation of God and not by evolution.

WE BELIEVE that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners not only by constraint, but of choice; and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can ever be born of woman, and that He’s both the Son of God and God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyrs but was a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner’s place the Just dying for the unjust; Christ, the Lord, bearing our sin in zHis own body on the tree; that having risen from the dead He is now enthroned in heaven, and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection, He is in every way qualified to be a suitable a compassionate and an all-sufficient Saviour.

WE BELIEVE that in order to be saved, sinners must be Born Again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is an instantaneous and not a process; that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; the the new creation is brought about in a manner above our comprehension, solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the Gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of reputable and faith and newness of life.

WE BELIEVE that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem; while all such as continue the curse; and the distinction holds among men both in and after death in the everlasting felicity the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost

WE BELIEVE in the Bodily Resurrection. (Matt. 28:6-7; Luke 24:39; John 20:27; 1 For. 15:4; Mark 16:6; Luke 24:2-6.)

WE BELIEVE in the Ascension. (acts 1:9-11; Luke 24:51; Mark 16:19; Rev. 3:21; Heb. 12:2.)

WE BELIEVE in the High Priesthood. (Her. 8:6; 1 Tim. 2:5; 1 John 2:1; Hey. 2:17; Heb. 5:9-10.)

WE BELIEVE in the Second Coming. ( John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1 These. 4:16; James 5:8; Heb. 9:28.)

As Outlaws, we are fully equipped to be walking demonstrations in the earth, taking the world by force through theatrical productions, spoken word, dance, singing and much more. We are armed and dangerous and possess an arsenal of spiritual weapons, which makes us fearless in our commitment to Christ., powerful in dramatic presentations, daring in our delivery and dangerous in our praise!

To empower kingdom citizens to become bold warriors for Christ as we bring the WORD of God to life on-stage!

Missiom

That everyone we encounter will live out their lives as Outlaws, no longer subject to the laws of sin and death, but rather “more than conquerors” under the mission of Christ. Through drama our assignment is to compel men, women and children through bible-based productions to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and to experience the unfailing mercy and love of our Father, ABBA. We are not limited by our approach to illustrate God’s love, therefore will will express our spiritual freedoms outside of tradition, but inside the heart of GOD.
